Davonne Torres

About Me
My name is Davonne Torres. Your Learners can call me Mrs. Torres. Welcome to LEAFY LEARNERS! The name, Leafy Learners came from the belief that, just like leaves, all learners are different. All come from different "trees" aka: families, backgrounds, experiences and qualities. Along those lines, we as individuals come with our own individual seed. That seed was already predesigned and comes jammed packed with so many amazing things. Children, of course, are the same. Each of them are little seeds. What they bring to the table is all unique, individual and special.
Helping them to: grow, change, explore and thrive, is my ultimate goal. I am a HUGE believer that it truly takes "trees" (family, educators, friends etc.) working together to help learners grow and succeed. Levels and examples of success are not measured against one another, but rather as an individual. Again, each learner is so very unique and special. Finding those strengths and areas of need is my focus. I so look forward to meeting you and your little LEAFY LEARNER(S) soon!

I was a public school teacher for 18 years. Most of my years of teaching were in kindergarten and first grade. I also taught two years of middle school. I taught English when I worked at the middle school. Two of my years were spent teaching online during Distance Learning.
2000-2003
Preschool Teacher and Tutor
City of Rancho Cucamonga
Tutor Wizz
My title was "Playschool Teacher" for the city of Rancho Cucamonga. There, I taught a few age ranged classes. I taught classes of two year old children, classes of three year children and also classes for children 4-5 years old. At this time, I was also a small group and one-on-one tutor for a local tutoring company.
2005-2006
Master of Arts in Elementary Education
Claremont Graduate University
I received my teaching credential as well as my Masters degree during my dual program. Claremont Graduate University is an amazing University! It for sure prepared me well for my teaching career. My first year teaching for Rialto Unified School District was considered my internship though CGU.
2000-2004
Bachelor of Arts in Education
California State University San Bernardino
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in four years. The program at CSUSB was very well designed. It also greatly prepared me for my teaching career.

My Services
My services help to support children with essential relaxation and coping techniques, equipping them to thrive in challenging tasks and succeed in their educational journey.
* Parent/guardian remains on the premises during in-person tutoring sessions.
Tutoring
I offer one-on-one online and in person tutoring. Each child will receive a personally designed program and instruction to meet their individual needs.
We will cover one subject/need per session. The progression of lessons will depend on how each child is doing, working with families to decide next steps and also based on assessments.
Along the way, I will always make our sessions as engaging, enjoyable and fun as possible. Since each child is different, the degrees of engagement will depend on them.
-Online Tutoring-
30 Minutes= $35
1Hour= $50
In-Person Tutoring
30 Minutes= $45
1 Hour= $65
In Person Small Group Instruction
I offer instruction for small groups of learners.
(2-6 learners per group)
Learners are grouped according to grade level range and need. Each program and session is geared towards one focus subject and lesson.
Not only will Learners receive small group and more individualized instruction, but they will be able to engage and socialize with others their own age as well.
-In-Person Group Instruction-
1 Hour= $50
In Person Small Group Activities
These FUN activities will be thematic and seasonal. For example: "My Size Snowman," Mother's Day projects, Earth Day planting lesson and activity and so much more! These are considered, "make and take" classes. This means that your child/children will always come home with their project. The only time that they will not come home with something, is if it is a project that will be completed over the course of more than one session
-Small Group Activity Classes-
1 Hour= Each activity class's price is determined by the project. The range will be between: $20- $40
Keep in mind that these are "make and take" classes, so your child will come home with what they "create" during each session.
